A Voice

This is my own little piece of the world where I can, perhaps, make a dent.

All the advice today is to do something you love and then get better at it.

My mum did this. Over the course of her life she created little dents here and there. I was a little too self absorbed to notice until, after her passing, the local church decided to dedicate a part of the building to her.

So, briefly, what did she do to warrant such recognition?

If I listed the actual items and activities specifically it might devalue what she contributed. But therein lies the answer: contribution and, I'd add, persistence.

She just kept on turning up. Even Woody Allen recognised the value of just turning up.

And of course this recognition thing is not an IFTTT recipe. It's not going to be "if I do this then I'll definitely get that".

You contribute because you have something to offer. And you persist because there's always more to offer. And you're also trying to refine your message/s.

And so you keep turning up.

And you hope to make a dent in the world.

But you may not.

But that doesn't stop you.

You just persist in contributing.
